Episode 094: Functional Assessments in the Classroom

  • by

What are Functional Assessments?

Functional assessments are the gold standard of behavior analysis. So how can we do one practically? Functional assessments in the classroom can help us to determine the function of a behavior and then make a plan to either increase or decrease that behavior. Conducting functional assessments in a school setting comes with its own set of unique challenges, and what you do to prepare before going into the classroom is just as important as what you do while you’re there. That’s why we’re excited to have behavior analyst Matt Cicoria join us for our next live CEU event to cover just that. Matt had us on the Behavioral Observations Podcast in 2021 to discuss everything you need to know as a new BCBA. So definitely give that episode a listen as well.

If you’re anything like us, you have a hectic schedule. The next thing you know, three years have passed, and it’s time to get recertified. We wanted to make the CEU recertification process easier for you. When you become a Bx Pro Member, you get access to our monthly CEU events as well as access to recordings of all of the previous CEUs we’ve presented so you can get recertified all in one place.
